Psychological Testing & Evaluation

As suggested by the name, Psychological Assessment Services for the Deaf is primarily focused on assessment, particularly forensic assessment.

Forensic evaluation is a recognized specialty within psychology and requires specialized knowledge and training. Similarly, the needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing are unique and require a very specialized skill set, particularly regarding assessment and psychological testing. Proper assessment and testing of deaf and hard of hearing individuals requires an understanding of how language, culture, and individual difference interact with medical and psychological factors to create personality, mental illness, and resiliency. Dr. Hartman is uniquely qualified to address both specialties.

As a psychologist specializing in assessment of deaf and hard of hearing individuals, with additional training and experience in forensic psychology, Dr. Hartman is able to provide evaluations that address the relevant psycho-legal question with attention to the cultural and linguistic issues that may impact the legal process.

In addition to forensic assessment, Dr. Hartman is able to provide any other type of psychological assessment with deaf and hard of hearing individuals, including assessments for vocational rehabilitation and general clinical purposes.
